Qingcheng Creek: A Rustic Luxury Retreat by Nine Dimension Design

Golden A' Design Award Winner in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design

The project, which covers a total of 2000 square meters, is located in Chengdu and was completed in July 2020. The design team, led by Zhigang Cheng and Li Lu, took inspiration from the lightsome crane wings, the natural texture of stone, and the vertical line of pillars to create a rustic luxury style that offers a relaxing feeling. The semi-open architectural layout registers a blend of private and high-quality sense, softening the tough lines of the buildings with the magnificent and enchanting Mount Qingcheng.

Upon entering the lobby, tourists are brought "back to the earth" from the "fairyland" through a space transition from darkness to light formed by the enclosure of the corridor hall. The whole space system is designed to provide an experience of "engagement to retreat to reengagement" for the tourists. The design aims to allow people to return to nature, appreciate the true power of all things, and enjoy their cozy holiday.

The design realization technology is impressive. The designer has made the whole space more inclusive and rhythmic through pillar designs, offering tourists volume preservation in architecture. The curved roof connects the whole building community, combined with vertical members, forming a light and smooth space form. In terms of material selection, the design continues the simplicity and nature of ancient Chinese architecture, creating a pure and comfortable atmosphere with the help of thatch, green tiles, and wood.

Qingcheng Creek Village is a testament to the balance struck between architecture and nature.
